A tax break for year-end shopping to stimulate the economy will be renewed this year at the request of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, a Finance Ministry source said yesterday. The tax break on shopping will extend over the last two weeks of next month. However, the government insisted on renewing the tax break shopping policy with full support from Gen Prayut, the source said. Last year, the Finance Ministry offered the tax incentive from Dec 14-31, while the scheme in the previous year lasted only seven days. He was, however, convinced that the renewal of the tax break policy this year would be a boon for the economy.
